Hello!

We are a budding ecovillage in the highlands of Mexico.

We are looking for some longer term volunteers to live here in exchange for the work they do.
We need: Kitchen manager, yoga instructor, massage therapist, domestic help, and teachers of Spanish and English.
Our regular volunteers pay a fee to work here, but for these positions we can make other arrangements.

After years of work, this forest serves as a retreat space for artists, performers, writers, and other creative and friendly people. It is called the "Bosque Village". Bosque means forest in Spanish.

This place is becoming an ongoing small festival as well as a growing community.

We have a constant stream of volunteers and amazing visitors! Some people come through when they are between jobs, traveling, or to live here for a time and telecommute. Some of our visitors are visiting many communities looking for one to live in.

WEB PAGE: http://bosquevillage.com
NEXT LITTLE FESTIVAL: http://jobutsu.com/cumbreyah/

You can also add the Bosque as friends on social networking sites:

See you in Mexico!

Mile High Club

Last year, I entered a raffle for a mile high club flight out of BRC's airport. I didn't win that blessed flight darn it, BUT I'm still dreaming of doing it someday. Being an ex-airline employee who has NOT yet joined the "mile high" club, I would love to do it, or perhaps "play' flight attendant, or gate agent. I would love to find the organizers of this flight who I believe come from Portland, Oregon. To volunteer for the flights and perhaps even make up some more fun for this great idea.

So, Who are they, Where are they online?

I want to help, and participate in your flights.

Plus, I would just love to help out at the BRC airport, right up my alley, ya know.

NEXT year, NEXT year. But at least this gives me a year to plan my future burn activites.

Who is going to the playa this year?

Okay... out of the 19 people on this tribe who are interested in this 'Beyond Burningman' concept... who is actually going to the playa this year?

I am NOT.

Obviously.

I made a big deal about my personal opposition to the specific festival that takes place in BRC. Although I had an awesome time when I went in 03, I not only would be hypocritical to go to this festival -- but I also simply feel that the festival is going to kinda suck this year...

... just a feeling.

So... out of you who ARE going... do you think it might be a good idea to help spread the idea of a networked alternative to 'Burningman' as a festival?

Obviously this tribe is a proto-type version of this... however, in the long run I really don't care if this tribe vanishes completely to be replaced by bigger and better things.

I'm fairly notorious on tribe.net and I am assuming this will spred to burningman. Certain people will probably try to shun anybody who even MENTIONS that they know me... so... uh... hmmm... how can we get this idea to pick up some steam?

My theory is this:

Burningman this year will be BY FAR the WORST ever. There will be more rape, violent acid freak-outs and HOPEFULLY some terrorist attacks or something insane. Haha... at which point more and more people will begin asking themselves

'What is beyond burningman?'

However... for those who are STILL not smart enough to come to this conclusion on their own, we might want to advertise.

What visions do you have for something better?

I also wonder what can be next.
Lets pretend that burningman is irrelevant. Lets skip it.

What are the elements of burning man values... which are really great? And how can those be directly brought into longer lasting spaces? How can we "bring it home?" And what was it again?

What would you like to see happen? Ideally?

Samuelroy's ideas of:
"Could we cure world aids, world hunger and ascend up into the universe and build crazy space-ships that will absorb our consciousness and fly over to another planet and find out what the other planet is like so that we know and we can be happy with ourselves for exploring the universe? "
Hmmm... maybe a little advanced for this week. But there is a huge amount of energy in people's resources, knowledge and passion. What can we do?

"Could you buy collectively owned land?" Personal opinion is that this seems to result in rapid failure. Collective ownership leads to struggle and oppression almost always.
Maybe sharing collective vision and culture can be done better and would allow us to share individually owned resources better. Sharing seems difficult sometimes without a framework to protect people.

"Could we build non-profit, political and artistic complexes in cities around the world? "
Sure, we can do that. There are many now. What are you wanting to accomplish?

"do you think it might be a good idea to help spread the idea of a networked alternative to 'Burningman' as a festival?" Sure, why not? There and many more of these all the time. What would yours be like?

But what can we do beyond this? What do you really want?
What world or event do you wish to create to serve yourself and others?

What are you going to do to create that?

Samuelroy: It sounds like you want something.... I wonder what it is.
